MWD Session 6: Ghost Town Battle 1

The Second is called in for a mission briefing. Davion satellites have detected an unexpected Leopard dropship landing on the planet, and it has failed to identify itself or answer hails. The landing site is an abandoned logging town high in the mountains.

The Second approaches the village stealthily, and picks up poorly-encrypted radio chatter. They hear voices in German, especially “lieferung” and “Schnell!” The Second’s magnetic sensors also pick up a massive metal object on the far side of the village.

A light snow shower begins, limiting visibility to 180 meters. Two parallel roads lead into the village. Joanna and Cosmo take the west road and Axel and Cosmo take the east.

The two groups converge and start pushing through the central intersection of the village. They make contact with a Centurion and a Phoenix Hawk. They hear a call, in German, that “The police are here! Silence them!” before the enemies switch to a more secure frequency.

Max moves ahead, but he takes enfilade fire from a concealed Griffon and some missile boat hidden behind a hill. The unlucky barrage destroys the hip joint on his Scorpion’s left rear leg.

As the lance pushes forward, they make visual contact with the magnetic structure. It proves to be a staging area full of shipping containers.

Axel charges east and gets into fisticuffs with the GRF.

The enemy PXH continues spotting for the unseen fourth unit.

Joanna and Cosmo continue creeping forward, clinging to cover but struggling to get clear shots.

The CN9 closes to point-blank range with Max. It delivers a glancing blow to his cockpit and shoots the damaged leg to pieces. The SCP falls.

Max charges the GRF and knocks it over. The PHX moves to attack him.

Joanna loses her connection to base. Bringing up her settings, she sees another that another Comstar blackout has begun.
