The year is 3025, and five young Mechwarriors answer Davion’s call. Their mission is to secure a recently-conquered planet.
The player characters are:
Axel Garrettson
Axel was born in the Rasalhague District, his family already on the run from Combine security forces. He apprenticed with and joined Comstar at a young age. As a lay tech rather than an acolyte, he eventually left the order. For his retirement package Comstar gave him a path to FedSuns citizenship: a WVR-6R and a commission in the AFFS.
Cosmo Rigby
Cosmo (Max’s brother) grew up on an agroworld, handling an agromech as soon as his feet could hit the pedals. As a young man, a Solaris talent scout recruited him to the games. He honed his skills for months, but just as he was about to hit the big times his manager disappeared. Learning of a game-fixing ring and a threat to his own life, the brothers returned to the Federated Suns, Cosmo bringing his HBK-4G.
Vicar Joanna Ashpoole
The third child and first daughter of the Barony Ashpoole, there was no chance of Joanna inheriting a battlemech. The second son had gone to Comstar, so Joanna went to the New Avalon Catholic Church. Joining the AFFS as a chaplain, Joanna was on hand when an SHD-2H had its cockpit severely damaged and the neurohelmet locked to its previous owner’s settings. Joanna’s neural patterns were the most compatible with the damaged helmet, so she took up the mech.
Max Rigby
Max (Cosmo’s brother) grew up fixing tractors and crop dusters, and eventually learned to maintain agromechs. When Cosmo went to Solaris, Max went with him. Scavenging for parts in a junkyard, Max found the hull of a Scorpion tank. One leg at a time, he rebuilt the machine into an SCP-1N. Eventually he discovered that Cosmo’s manager was part of a game-fixing ring, and that Cosmo was scheduled to be gruesomely killed to glorify a more profitable rising star. Max killed the manager, and the brothers returned to the Federated Suns.
Nathaniel Lassan
Nathaniel comes from Brianscache, a steam-era lostech world where the dominant life-forms are entomorphs. He came up through the ranks of the local militia until he was transferred to the AFFS and posted on the planet Assaye. While there, he saved Field Marshal Arden Sortek from a Capellan sniper, and was rewarded with a MON-67. Nathaniel arrived on planet with the First Lance, a week ahead of the other characters; when he was the sole survivor of an infantry attack, he was transferred to the Second.
